The People's AGM: revealing RBC's true impact on Climate Justice and Indigenous Rights

At the inaugural People’s AGM, you’ll hear from frontline organizers about the real life impact of destructive projects financed by RBC and learn about how we plan to get RBC to stop funding fossil fuels. We’ll be bringing in Advisors to the People to speak: organizers from all over the world who, together, have extensive experience calling on banks to divest, campaigning against fossil fuel projects financed by RBC, and organizing thousands of people across a country to collectively push for change. As stakeholders in our shared environment — we should all have a say in RBC’s destructive financing practices that are speeding us toward the brink of climate disaster, especially when RBC makes grand commitments to their customers and shareholders that they are climate leaders.  

To make this catch the eye of RBC’s top executives, we need thousands of people attending. During COVID-19, when we can’t gather in the streets and demonstrate the strength of our movement, a digital meeting of a thousand people discussing RBC’s destructive investments and what we can do about it is bound to get their attention. 

It’s not going to be easy pushing the biggest, most profitable company in Canada to change. But if we build a movement that spans from coast to coast, and target our pressure at the hundreds of bank offices across the country — it could make our demands to RBC impossible to ignore.
